George Beremov's TOP 20 Best-Reviewed Movies of 2017 PART 1 [20 - 11]

[click on the title to read the quick review]

11. Raw (8.25/10)

Quote: "A coming-of-age story like no other, "Raw" grows from quietly innocent to rabidly sexual, never losing its grim edge, getting a lot more twisted and gruesome as it unfolds..."

12. Okja (8.25/10)

Quote: "Effortlessly shifting tones, it is adorable, touching, sad, thrilling, and cartoonish all at once, boasting originality, fancy CGIs,
and a diversely talented cast."

Quote: "...conceptually smart, highly inventive, and unique, this twisty, skillfully-crafted dystopian flick is almost too thrilling to endure,
and too intense to handle..."

Quote: "...a hauntingly odd and pretty enigmatic, yet mesmerizing story about karma, nemesis, and oblation, whose sense of dread elevates with each scene, and culminates in a macabre finale..."

Quote: "Visually impeccable, somber in tone, crafted with thought, heart, and precision, and yet again driven by Serkis' powerhouse
performance as Caesar..."

Quote: "...as vivid and colorful as fireworks, and laden with mind-blowing effects, enhanced by some cool use of 3D, which also helps
the action to reach epic level."

17. Get Out (8.00/10)

Quote: "...a clever slow-burner that makes you think by combining racial horror and social satire in the creepiest, most disturbing and effective way you can ever imagine..."

Quote: "...a truly accomplished hijack drama further elevated by Plummer's pretty powerful portrayal of the greedy and
 stone-cold J. Paul Getty."

19. Brawl in Cell Block 99 (8.00/10)

Quote: "An in-depth look at prison terror, but also an affecting story about determination, bravery, and self-sacrifice, hidden behind
the mask of unbearable violence..."

Quote: "...thanks to the highly intelligent script, which balances out dark humor and intense drama effortlessly, with the help of McDormand's phenomenally determined performance."

Honorable mentions:
Blade of the Immortal (7.75/10), Life (7.75/10)
and Call Me by Your Name (7.75/10)

I've seen four of those. Brawl in Cell Block 99 was brutal but really good.
